Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) Scoping
NbS project design, biodiversity credit scoping, ecosystem assessment, and assisted natural regeneration planning.
The challenge
Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) Scoping
NbS projects attract funding faster than they attract rigour. Weak ecological baselines and vague credit logic produce projects that cannot verify their claims. Scoping is where a project earns credibility or loses it.
How I work
The approach
A field-verified method, not a desk exercise.
01
Assess the ecosystem
Establish an ecological baseline and restoration potential for the site.
02
Design the intervention
Plan assisted natural regeneration or other NbS matched to the ecology and the community context.
03
Scope the credits
Test whether biodiversity or carbon credit claims can survive verification.
What you get
Deliverables
Baseline
Ecosystem assessment
Ecological baseline and restoration-potential analysis.
Credits
Biodiversity credit scoping
Whether and how a credit claim holds up.
ANR
Regeneration design
Assisted natural regeneration planning.
ESG
Mandate support
Inputs for ESG-driven NbS mandates.
My commentary on Chazdon et al. (2025) engages directly with forest self-regeneration and its implications for ANR policy, and biodiversity credit scoping is part of my current Cleantech Nexus mandate.
