FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about working with SustainIT.ai.

What makes SustainIT.ai different from other environmental consultancies?

I occupy a unique niche: the bridge between ground-truth ecology and frontier AI. Most environmental consultants are either field experts or tech specialists — very few are both. I have 6+ years of field work in Central Africa, two MSc degrees from top European universities, and active roles in AI model evaluation at Alignerr and Outlier.ai. This means I can read a satellite classification, walk the forest it represents, and identify what the model got wrong — then translate that into verified data for compliance and verification.

Do you work with organizations outside of Africa and Europe?

Yes. While my field expertise is strongest in Central Africa and my regulatory knowledge is focused on EU frameworks, I work with global clients on AI evaluation, remote sensing, and research design. Remote sensing and AI model evaluation can be delivered fully remotely. For field verification, I coordinate with local partners in the target region.

What is your typical project timeline?

Timelines vary by service tier. AI evaluation projects typically run 2–4 weeks. Remote sensing analysis takes 2–4 weeks. Due diligence and compliance assessments require 4–8 weeks. MRV system design is a longer engagement at 6–12 weeks. Training workshops are typically 1–3 days. I always provide a detailed timeline in my proposal before any work begins.

How do you handle data quality and field verification?

Data quality is at the core of everything I do. For satellite and remote sensing data, I use multiple sensors (Sentinel-2, Landsat) and cross-reference with ground-truth data. For field verification, I follow established protocols including random sampling, stratified approaches, and quality control checks. I have direct experience collecting field data in tropical forest conditions and understand the practical challenges of verification in remote areas.

Can you support EUDR compliance for commodity supply chains?

Yes. I provide comprehensive EUDR support including supply chain risk assessment, deforestation-free verification, geolocation data analysis, and documentation packages. My approach combines satellite monitoring (to identify deforestation risks) with field verification (to confirm compliance on the ground). I also support CSRD ESRS E4 biodiversity reporting and EU Taxonomy alignment.

What languages do you work in?

I work professionally in English (native) and French. I also speak Lamnso (Ngemi language, Cameroon) and have elementary German. This multilingual capability is essential for working with Francophone African institutions, EU bodies, and diverse community stakeholders.

Do you offer training and capacity building?

Yes. I offer AI-enhanced sustainability training workshops for environmental professionals, corporate sustainability teams, and NGOs. These cover using GenAI for environmental monitoring, policy analysis, and sustainability reporting. I also provide prompt engineering training and responsible AI governance frameworks. Custom workshops are designed to meet your team's specific needs.

What is your payment structure?

For project-based work, I typically require a 50% deposit upfront and 50% on delivery. For retainers, monthly billing in advance. For larger projects, I can structure milestone-based payments. All payment terms are clearly outlined in the proposal before any work begins.

How do I get started?

The best way is to book a free 30-minute consultation. We will discuss your project, goals, and timeline. I will then prepare a detailed proposal with scope, deliverables, timeline, and pricing. If you prefer, you can also email me directly at info@sustainit.ai with a brief description of your needs.
