Challenge: EU-funded cleantech projects and Nature-Based Solutions initiatives required field-credible biodiversity intelligence that could pass emerging market due diligence and EU reporting standards.

Solution: Delivered drone-assisted surveys, GIS mapping, remote sensing, and land-use change detection for project validation. Provided ecosystem assessment, assisted natural regeneration, and biodiversity credit scoping. Supported Horizon Europe and LIFE Nature and Biodiversity proposals with field-credible technical inputs.

Outlier.ai: Pegasus HLE — Expert LLM Evaluation for Environmental Science

Role: Environmental AI Data Contributor

Duration: May 2025 – Present

Challenge: Frontier LLMs needed expert-level evaluation datasets to test their reasoning on environmental science, climate systems, and ecological causality. Most benchmark datasets lacked domain expertise.

Solution: Authored challenging, multi-step environmental reasoning problems designed to stress-test state-of-the-art AI models. Applied expertise in tropical forestry, forest governance, biodiversity monitoring, carbon markets, and REDD+ to ensure scientific rigor and appropriate difficulty.

Outcome: Produced benchmark-quality datasets that improved model evaluation in environmental science domains. Identified specific reasoning gaps in LLMs' understanding of ecological causality and multi-variable spatial reasoning.

Green Forest Foundation: REDD+ Readiness in Campo Ma'an National Park

Challenge: WWF local partners needed institutional capacity assessments, community conservation structures, and field data collection for REDD+ readiness in one of Central Africa's most important biodiversity corridors.

Solution: Conducted governance assessments of WWF local partners, delivered organizational development training, facilitated conservation cooperative formation, and supported women's capacity building programmes. Led participatory land-use assessments and field data collection for evidence-based conservation planning.

Outcome: Conservation cooperatives formed with sustainable governance structures, women's land access improved, and REDD+ readiness data collected for national carbon accounting.

MSc Thesis: Constitutionality in Forest Governance — Bakossi Landscape

Challenge: How do local perceptions, participation, institutional recognition, and external influence shape bottom-up forest governance in the Bakossi Landscape? How do traditional councils interact with formal conservation frameworks?

Methodology: Qualitative field research using focus groups with community members and key informant interviews with traditional council members and conservation officers. Investigated constitutionality principles and their role in shaping forest user behavior.

Outcome: Published thesis in SLUB Dresden catalogue. Found that traditional councils and indigenous institutions play critical governance roles when formally recognized within conservation frameworks. Recommendations emphasized integrating local knowledge with national policy and empowering grassroots institutions.
